Samsung Televisions: At the Forefront of TV Technology
Samsung Televisions: At the Forefront of TV Technology
By Alex Bradbury
Samsung, a Korean based conglomerate, is one of the most successful companies thriving today, and one of its highly acclaimed subsidiaries is the Samsung Electronics, the maker of world-renowned Samsung televisions.
This huge numbers only say one thing, televisions manufactured by
Samsung are superb and consumers want them. Samsung was a company that did not initially manufacture television sets.
It was only in the early 70s, when European and American manufacturers shared
their technology to the company for the rights to sell TVs in Korea, did
Samsung look closely at the market and decided to launch their own TV.
Samsung
designed their first TV, a black and white set, in 1970 and produced it in 1972
for domestic sale, by 1976, there were one million black and white Samsung
televisions produced.
1977 was the year Samsung decided to manufacture colour
TV sets and at the same time, inspired by their domestic success, market their
TV products all over Asia. By 1981, Samsung televisions were selling rapidly,
10 million black and white sets and 1 million collared units produced.
From then on, Samsung has become a household name worldwide, not only for
their TVs, but also for their other electronic products, and this is because of
their various innovative advancements in their products.
For example, in 1995, the first 33 inch double screen TV was introduced, and it was one of the Samsung televisions.
Also, earlier during that period, Samsung, which
collaborated with Sony in creating Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screens,
developed the largest LCD screens for a TV at 30 inches, which comparably today
is minuscule but was a revolutionary feature then.
Other noteworthy and
remarkable developments from Samsung include the release of the thinnest TV in
2002, and in 2006, the first LCD screen that was double-sided.
Today, Samsung televisions are highly regarded in the US market and the
brand is ranked first in the US market for Digital TV, a recognition it has
held for 4 consecutive years. With the winning combination of superb output
image quality, energy efficiency, and stunning design, there is a Samsung TVperfect for every home.
